Lion Head Winter Climb
Successful climb of the Lion Head Winter Route on Mt. Washington. Weather conditions were perfect for climb as the sun stayed behind the clouds and the winds were about 20-25 mph on the summit. Temperature was in the teens most of the day. Great route for a day climb to summit.

Fun..
We had more "winter" conditions rather than the spring conditions one would hope for.. Freezing rain, whiteout and wind. We made it to the top of the lions head before turning around. Very fun route, but it is really icy at this time, so take care on the steep sections.

I robbed the weather gods blind!
We had a beautiful day and perfect conditions. The views stretched on for miles and miles. This was my first "real" winter mountaineering trip and it was awesome. Is it easy? Well it's not technical, but that doesn't make it any less fun.

Failed Summit and Summit
The first day we got above the treeline and a girl got hypothermia. We went down and tried again the next day (without her) and made the summit in perfect conditions!

whiteout-fun
turned back the day prior - over 100mph winds on summit. got to top next day in slightly better weather. great time - learned a lot about hydration, goggle fog, batteries, etc..
From all the climbs in Huntington in the winter....talk about shin-bang!

Luge
The "luge" was alarmingly steep and crowded in places, though preferable to baking in a small room with a snoring stranger at the Joe Dodge Lodge the night before. I'm not sure I'll repeat this route.

First winter climb on any mountain for me
Drove overnight from Michigan. Arrived at 3AM. Left Pinkham Notch 8AM. Met up with climbers from the Green Mountain Club of Vermont, who allowed me to tag along with them (many, many thanks from me to you guys). Foggy, but extremely warm for March, and absolutely no wind. Had a undercast at around 5500ft. Even though we were still immersed in fog, all members of our group got sunburned on our faces. Summit was cool, but not cold nor windy. Excellent first time winter summit experience.
