Little Chief-Mahtotapa-Red Eagle ridge

Looking east from the lofty summit of Little Chief Mountain. The sun kissed slopes just below and to the right of center lead to the summit of Mahtotapa Mountain. Just behind and to the right, blotches of black rock comprise the true summit of Red Eagle Mountain. It is possible to hike the ridge between Little Chief and Red Eagle, but be forewarned that it's an EXTREMELY LONG DAY! St. Mary Lake is behind the snow bank on the left, with Otokomi (in shadow) and Singleshot (in sun) mountains rising on the left edge of the frame. You can also make out Lower St. Mary Lake a bit further in the distance. Behind Red Eagle, Curly Bear (flat top, in shadow) Divide (behind Curly Bear) and White Calf (far right) mountains are visible. July 12, 2010
