Great route. Talus pile not so much.
Do this route, it’s fun. For those less comfortable with breathtaking exposure, there are some circumnavigation options until…there aren’t any more. The step-around move is actually as thrilling as can be, but holds are bomber and feet are great. It’s just your *ss hanging out there over the void that’s potentially unnerving.
On the talus portion of the approach, start moving talus-climber’s right sooner rather than later. About halfway up the talus pile, along the climber’s right side, grassy slopes will appear making passage much easier.

Fun Scramble
Wild raspberries, bull elk, wilderness tarn, glaciated gorge, and fun scrambling...RMNP at its best. Easy and fun scramble along the ridge with very little exposure. Lots of options to add some rock climbing. I barely fit into the squeeze chimney to reach the end of the ridge.

memories
I was 16! I remember those exposed moves -- but fortunately, at that young age, I could jump like a gazelle. My climbing partner saw the first notch, said "no way" and I picked him up on the way back. Wherever there was bad exposure, I just jumped across. As, to have those tendons and those nerve endings these days.

Very fun day out w/ the SP folks!
Did the SP spring gathering (and brewfest!). Great time!
The great scrambling along the ridge is pretty short and the loose talus slog is pretty long... but it was still a good time with great company.

Ja war es gut
Climbed with the SP Colorado group spring gathering 2006, my first SP gathering. Had a great time. Loose rock on the slope up to the ridge was a concern, but we all managed to survive. I hate to say it, but this was only my second climb in RMNP… I have to go back for more!

Great Summit view
The Little Matterhorn lived up to it's reputation of being a fairly easy climb where spectacular photos can be taken. Unfortunately I do not have the photos that were taken that day...just the memory of a good climb.
