Looking at this image, it is not difficult to imagine Tinkham Mountain coming to us as a medieval castle complete with moat and drawbridge, whose only access is via a graceful, serpentine trail, and illumination comes not from above, but rather from some inner source within the fields of beargrass...a mysterious place, lit only by fire. Mount Stimson is the flat-topped mountain immediately to Tinkham's left, with Mount Pinchot on the far left. Partially obscured by trees, Blackfoot Mountain is on the far right. Photo taken not far down the descent off Cut Bank Pass, heading onto the ridge and access to the mountain proper. Photo by Vernon, July 24, 2005.
