Route beta: Looking down the Southwest Ridge from the summit of Volunteer Peak. You can see the granite slabs on the lower portion of the route (upper right), the large granite shelf and tarns (top center), the smaller shelf above them (with the small trees), and the sandy/bushy slope that rises up the south side of the peak (left), as described in the route description.
