From the eastScotty, I was thinking of doing this from the east, (see map below) as the Topo makes it appear that there is an old road that reaches up on the east side that is much more direct than Miner's canyon.
When you were looking down that way, what is your assessment of doing Pilot from that direction? A lot of the snow that was present in early May looks like it is gone cause it was loaded pretty good then.

Re: From the eastWell Dean, the problem that I see there is the shorter distance --- the first 1k looks nice, but after that it would be sustained, talussy, and steep. The Miners Canyon ridge would only be really annoying for the first 1.2k or so, and then after that would probably only have short sections of vegetation or steeper talus. Distance-wise, it's all so short that it doesn't matter --- speed over terrain is the issue here. I might try to descend some of the talus sections in the center chutes, but if the talus size got too large it would be worse....
