At 12,000 feet, from the top of the expansive Red Knob Pass, one gets an unparalleled view south into Lake Fork Drainage. Mt Lovenia is just about center with East Lovenia to the left. This was a hastily-shot panorama due to the fast approaching summer storm that ended up dropping five inches of snow.
Red Knob Pass I believe it is the third highest pass in the Uintas behind Anderson and Porcupine. It's claim to fame, so to speak, is that it joins
three drainages - West Fork Blacks Fork, East Fork Blacks Fork and Lake Fork - not two like most passes. Coming up from East Fork Black Fork, my plan had been to drop into West Fork Blacks Fork to hit
Deadhorse Lake but the cornice across the top of the pass was impenetrable, at least for me. June 2004. Fuji Velvia.
