Mali Halan pass (1045m) road...

Mali Halan pass (1045m) road (below), built in 1832, used to be very important pass over Velebit, till some 40 years ago when Prezid pass road was built. Today most important is Zagreb-Split highway and long Sveti Rok tunnel through Velebit so passes in this part of Velebit lost traffic significance, which is good. Mali Halan road is not cleaned in winter so access to Tulove Grede is possible only on foot. At least meter of snow is needed to cover wild karst terrain around Tulove Grede like it is covered here. Behind is part of Novigradsko More sea while far in the distance, behind land, are islands of Zadar archipelagos. Feb 26th 2005.
