Hiking trail up and down
Certainly a strange mountain experience. Ski lifts crossing the mountain, mountain bikers zipping all over... But the views of the Minnaretts and other peaks are just amazing. Neat, quick jaunt. Summit is nice for lunch.
Oh yeah, can't wait to hit this mountain hard! Love to ski!

Gondola
Up and down the Gondola with the family. I've also skied the mountain numerous times. Mammoth is always a treat to visit.

first trip up after 8 ft of snow in 3 days!
this was the most snow I've ever experienced on the mountain and also some of the coldest conditions. At one point on the peak there were 45mph gusts and -10 deg wind chill. Some friends and I literally got unwillingly pushed over a cornice! great view to ritter, banner and the minarets

Snowboarding...
was awesome this week. Received 13" Sunday night and it was still snowing Wed, when I left. The powder was amazing, the visibility crappy but the time on the mountain was unforgettable!! Tues. the top and many lifts were closed, so it was a good thing we started Monday!! Can't wait to do it again!!Photos of Mammoth Mountain Trip

Climbed it with ski boots
At a minimum my wife and I late ski Mammoth every year. OK never climbed up this simple hill but sure found a bunch of challenging ways down.
Slow climb up the Dragon's Back trail with my dear old grandmother. Still, time well spent. Opted for Gondola #2 for the way down. Probably one of the few mountains you can climb and get away with that.
Up the Dragon's Back Trail and down the Mammoth Mountain Trail, with lunch at Top Station.

Good warm up
Not much of a challenge (we walked up the track leading from Reds lake), but enjoyable none the less as a first acclimatisation day for Mount Whitney. Took us 2 1/2 hours up and down.

Gondola
Took the Gondola and made fun of several tourists we saw in "crocs" shoes at the top. Then we began to wonder why we bothered to wear boots... Explored the mountain a little and hiked down to Mammoth Lakes (doing so had a little more honor). Lots of Bikers up there too- looks like fun!
This was the mountain on which I was born as a climber. Been back ever since. Make sure you get some jerky and find a soft game in Bishop on your way back to the city.

Stunning viewsCan't claim to have climbed it by fair means :) Not yet at least. But the views from the top regardless of how you got there are breathtaking.

4th Of July RocksI think 4th of July is the best time to ski Mammoth (well, the best party time anyway). Then you go watch fireworks at Mono Lake and get drunk. Fun!

GondolaAt least a couple hundred times since 1986. Skiied on 4th of July a couple of times too!
