Nice Climbing to Summit  Sucess!

Came over from Jean. Getting to the very top was a little bit exciting because the winds were fierce today. Seventh peak of a loop hike that included Cornell, Miller, San Jacinto, Folly, Drury, and Jean.

Part of 7 peak loop  Sucess!

Hiked Cornell, Miller, San Jacinto, Folly, Drury, Jean and Marion. All are great summits, lots of 3 class and summit blocks. Here are my GPS tracks and photos.

Second best in the area  Sucess!

Did it as part of a six-peak weekend with Folly, San Jacinto, Miller, Jean, and Newton Drurry. Its a ways out their from the main trail, but worth it. Exceptional view of Suicide Rock area.

Pre-Sierra Challenge Shakedown  Sucess!

Great place!! I enjoyed the cross country jaunt from Wellman's Divide and up the wooded drainage...absolutely gorgeous. Thankfully, I found the ducks fairly quickly and didn't end up in a "mazanita mangle" like Deb (teehee). Also doing a circuit of Marion, Peak 10,386, Jean and San Jacinto, then back to Humber Park. Finished this circuit in 7 hours 15 minutes. Installed NEW summit register as well. It needs a new note pad to complete it.....for now it has 4 sheets of paper :P

From Wellman's Divide Trail  Sucess!

Postcard perfect scenery this morning with fresh snow on the ground and in the trees; maybe I should have been paying attention to the trail! I took the tributary slog between Jean and Marion from just before Wellman's Divide; walking on TOP of manzanita for nearly 2 hours was NOT fun. Thank goodness for the map and compass to get me off of Marion in quicker fashion.
Awesome views from Marion summit block even with the forboding clouds coming from the south. There was a bit of whining going on as I downclimbed the summit block with all the snow and ice....good thing no one was around to hear it. :/

1 of 4 in a day - sort of

Thought I was at summit from Jean when storm rolled in and lightning started flickering. Saw that I was 20 yards from summit block when my hands (were on the rock) tingled from another close strike - weighed the risk of another lightning strike, decided I wanted to live a couple of more days, hauled ass down.

Followed ridge from Jean  Sucess!

Snowshoe outing with some assistance in the form of the tram: Cornell, Miller, San Jacinto, Folly, Drury, Jean, and Marion. Surprisingly enjoyable day for a bunch of HPS peaks--Cornell was by far the best of the lot. Summit block on Marion was icy and kind of fun.

Winter Climb

This is the way to go. Strap on the crampons and head straight up the slope from Devil's Slide. Though in the warm sun I was a little scared of the falling rime ice(off trees). Nice views, especially in winter.
