Short but steep!
Great hike with my 7 year old daughter. Beautiful panoramic views and lots of marmots to watch!

Marmot Point
October 12 2024: Today is Kim's birthday and she wanted to go into Rocky Mountain National Park to see the wildlife and visit the Alpine Visitor Center. We did the short hike to Marmot Point. Sadly today was the least amount of wildlife we ever saw in the park! I was there a few days ago and saw a lot.
We did see a big bald eagle, which was cool, but it's better to have a camera with a bigger zoom. It was a neat sighting though. We saw one chipmunk and one raven as well. This is the first time other than in the dead of winter that we didn't see elk (I saw many a few days ago). The marmots are now hibernating, but we heard a few pikas, though didn't see them. We missed seeing the bear at the entrance station, but others saw it.
We still had some nice views though and we got to spend time together so it was a great day.
July 11 2018: After work, I took the short hike to Marmot Point. It was a nice hike, but following a bunch of incredibly slow driving tourist up the Fall River Road was not fun! I did see some marmots though.
Scrambled up here right as a thunderstorm passed over Trail Ridge. Needless to say I skedaddled pretty quick as this knoll is quite exposed. My brother-in-law and sister aren't as scared of thunderstorms as I am, so they took their time. I have had too many close calls. Also saw quite a few marmots.

Marmot Point
I was happy to get out of the car and stretch my legs after driving up the dirt road (Old Fall Road). I made a quick trip to the top since my wife and kids were waiting in the car. I went to the Alpine Visitor's Center right after hiking to Marmot Point and watched some lightning strike the ground a few hundred yards from the visitor's center. I was glad I got off the peak before the storm hit.

Easy but Nice
Nice easy trek done on a whim. At the curve in the road we thought, that looks like a nice vantage point. A few minutes later we were rewarded with some great views.
After being turned away from Snowdrift by a ranger due to a fire on the west side I decided to make the annual fall pilgramage up Fall River Road and also added a few ranked bumps along the way.

Finally
I was sick of just driving past it,now i can mark it off the named destinations list
After a slow drive up Fall River Road, I hiked the short distance up to the summit of this little peak in an effort to see how my knee will do after injuring earlier this season. Had the summit to myself while a group of 20 lounged around half way up. Nice views from the top.

My wife and I decided to drive up to Trail Ridge and bag some easy peaks as a way to reacclimate to altitude, after having been near sea level on vacation. Marmot Point was the only peak we were able to do before it started to rain. We had it all to ourselves and really enjoyed the views, although we didn't stay on the summit but for two minutes due to the approaching rain (and what we were afraid would turn into a thunderstorm.)

Consolation Prize
My wife and I had to find an alternative for our aborted Mt Ida attempt after we found way too much snow in the trees. We were the only ones on the summit while it seemed hundreds walked up Unnamed Pt 12,005 near the visitor center. It gave me a good chance to scope the route to Desolation Peaks.

West Slope
This humble summit can be a strenuous climb if you ride a mountain bike up the Old Fall River Road from the Lawn Lake Trailhead ... hike up to the summit and back... finish riding up to the Alpine Visitors Center, then back across Trail Ridge Road to the Lawn Lake Trailhead.
