"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Benton County HighParked at upper lot. Strong winds but the clouds were high enough to see almost to the Sisters. Just a trace of snow on the ground at the summit.

North Ridge TrailA great hike in heavy rain. We reached the windy summit right as night fell then had a slippery but fun run down in the dark.

East Ridge TrailA beautiful autumn day for a hike. The vine maple in bright fall colors really added to the experience. Couldn't see the ocean from the summit (looked like it might have been fogged in) but there were great views of the Cascade volcanoes and the Coast Range. My 14 year old son's first Oregon county high point.

East TrailYes, getting to the summit from the parking lot is like falling off a log. However, a nice alternative is to park at the East Trail parking area and hike the 1500 feet to the summit from there. The trail has great switchbacks and goes through a virgin forest. Hard CoreMe and my Girl made this insane summit! I hiked 0.00001 miles from the parking area to the peak. We only rested 3 times and made it in just under 4 hours. My exhaustion overwhelmed my senses but the view made the trip well worth while!

North ridge trailThe trail was quite level with gigantic switch backs, but at around 10 miles round trip its definitely a decent workout.

Multiple SummitsLiving in Corvallis for seven years I made multiple trips up Marys. Good snow activities in the winter. Very nice old growth areas on the peak. Nice trail system also, a few loop options available. Great views of the Cascades

Mary's Peak SnowshoeI had done this peviously in December 2004 on a misty viewless day. For March, 2006, I snowshoed up the road to the Mary's Peak campground and took the meadow's edge trail to the meadow and summit. The meadows are quite beautiful when snow-covered. Windy and cold on top with views of the Willamette Valley and the Cascades from Diamond Peak to the base of cloud covered Mount Hood.

One of the best sunsets aroundA delightful day in Corvallis came to a lovely end when my friends and I climbed up to the top and enjoyed the sunset. The clouds rolled around in the valleys below us, and the weather was simpley perfect. I've had a soft spot for this peak ever since.

Night time hikeBob Bolton and I did the short hike from the parking area as darkness fell on a thursday evening. From there we drove down to do Bolivar Peak of Coos county, Brandy Peak of Curry county and Grayback Peak of Josephine county in the next two days as we were chasing Oregon county highpoints on that particular trip.
We had some nice nightime views but very few pics from the top of Mary's peak that are decent. It'd be nice to see the views from this one in the daylight.

east ridge trailWith thunderstorms threatening I took to the mountain this morning and lucked out only running into a few sprinkles on the way back down. Couldnt really see the cascades today as they were enveloped in clouds, but those clouds sure looked cool. I took my ex-girlfriends twin daughters along for the hike, they really enjoy this sort of thing. They got a kick out of avoiding the bugs that blanketed the trail on the way up (seriously, thousands of little black and yellow looking millipedes).
