Even better: running down the trail full speed. Also, very interesting place to visit.

Messenger Trail
The Messenger Trail is a great route to the top of Masada. The trail served as the line of communication between Roman forces at the base of the mountain and the assault forces at the top. The trail starts at the eastern base of Masada, passes the ruins of Roman encampments and siege walls, circles around to the north end and then ascends to the Roman ramp on the western side. Little used at the time of our climb, the trail affords dramatic views of the Masada fortress.
Hi!
I didn't know the name of the trail and called it "Round Masada Route" in my post "Eleazar Mt". Thank you for intresting information, I'll make the correction. Climbed Masada by this trail with my grandson Jan 2013. Not so crouded as Snake Path.

Masada by the Snake Path
4 pensioners from Moscow 50 minutes by Snake Path. The summit has met us by a sandy storm.
You wouldn't think that climbing up to sea level would be all that challenging, but the heat made it so. Awesome views.

A hot day!
Swam (or floated) in the Dead Sea. Then we hiked up the Snake Path to top of Masada. Bring water! It was very hot & dry. The ruins at the top are amazing. An unforgettable day.

Not so much climbing....
Cable car up and hiked down after spending some time at the Dead Sea. Just one stop of a month long trip in Israel, great place, shame about the political/religious/social issues.

I hate cable cars...and the place together with the weather were magic. Impressive views, adorned with this so special athmosphere of historical places. A special spot during a 15 days hike between Galilea and the Red Sea.

MasadaSnake Trail was closed due to over 100 degree heat. Thoroughly explored the mountain though, despite the pernicious sun.
