did you hear sny kookoo bird in Zermatt? We toured Europe in 2000. We hiked toward Rifleberg and the koo koo called sounding just like the clock. When the clouds parted to reveal this spectacle of the Matterhorn, it hit me that one of my dreams had come true. I shed a tear of joy. I'll never forget it.

I don't recall hearing a koo koo, but hearing the clock chime on the hour at the church near the graveyard in Zermatt made me a bit homesick for the Alps. This shot was from our hotel window, and ended up being the only time we actually saw the Matterhorn from down below.

I agree, if there's one mountain I could pick as hands-down the most beautiful and the one that most typifies what an alpine peak is, it would be Matterhorn.
