I climbed that 1975' peak a while back (fun moves) and could've sworn the register up top said "Mohawk Peak." Though it does make sense that the name would go with the highest one in the range I suppose.
I took over this page to correct other more egregious errors, mainly dealing with route description, to the summit. If you have photos of your climb of the 1975-foot spire, I'd love to see a page or TR for it.

Re: Interesting...The spire that you mention on the north side of I-8 is Mohawk Peak. The highpoint of the range (this page) is Mohawk Mountain.
