Monument Peak as seen from Lake Mountain to the southeast on August 24, 2001. The SSE Escarpment, Southeast Face, and East Ridge are all shown here. From where it steepens, the East Ridge is about 800 ft in height and is mostly class 4 with a few class 5 moves (depending on your route-finding skill).
