Lotto snow
With Ron. Camped at Honeymoon Meadows after a long hike in. 5 feet of snow there still. Easy snow slopes along the Anderson Glacier and we took the couloir straight up to Flypaper Pass. Traversed too high on the Eel Glacier and had to downclimb around some crevasses. Then easy slopes up to the summit and amazing views of Olympus, Constance, Cruiser and about everything else in the Olympics. Lots of glissading on the way down. Thank goodness for stashing the bikes for the last 5 miles out.
Great climb as a Boy Scout with all my buddies. All went well, we seemed to have loads of energy and were not challenged very much. Maybe we did not take the slopes as seriously as we should have. Great leaders, though. They knew when to rein us in and let us go.
This mountain is what the Olympics are all about! A little ice, a little rock and a grand view in the middle of pristine wilderness. The crux can be whether or not there is a snow bridge leading from the Flypaper Pass onto Eel Glacier.
