Great hike. I left my truck at Snowbird, climbed Sunset peak with family, then climbed Mount Baldy, Hidden Peak, then returned to Snowbird via Gad Valley.
Ascended from Snowbird via Peruvian Gulch, went over and back to Sugarloaf. On the way back met Mooner and we continued on to American Forks Twin Peaks together, he went on, I went back down via Gad Valley to the village and my car.

You'd laugh
but I haven't been up here before. Got my chance at last when running the Speedgoat 50K. This summit graced mile 9 of Karl Metzler's famously brutal course (which also featured lesser summits such as Hidden Peak - twice - and Miller Hill, for the total of nearly 12,000 ft el gain). Lots of wildflowers along the trails!
Climbed the main chute with SP user dunsum, in great snow conditions. Snow was firm and it made travel quick. This is a great late fall jaunt to get a workout and climb a nice couloir before the skiers get to it.

Via Cecret Lake
Beautiful day for a hike! Hiked up to Mount Baldy first, great views north and also south toward AF Twin Peaks, we then went and hit the summit of Sugarloaf. We had both summits all to ourselves, and saw only a handful of people once we passed Cecret Lake.
Rocky Alps - Jul 6, 2009 3:03 am Date Climbed: Jul 3, 2009
Route: Southwest Ridge
Went up to Cecret Lake several times, but never continued on to the summit of Mount Baldy. This time we took the tram up to Hidden Peak, and made the short traverse over to Baldy. There was still quite a bit of snow, and for awhile it looked like some thunderstorms might threaten our summit attempt, but all turned out well for our little boy Matthew's second summit.

8:45am. Route started at gate/summer road. Traveled cross country towards Cecret Lake, then climbed steeper snow to saddle between Devils Castle on East and Sugarloaf on West. After summiting Sugarloaf (noon) traveled west and climbed East Ridge to Baldy Summit (1:15pm) Down climbed North Ridge until we found a smooth & continuous snowfield to glissade down. Continued NE glissading/cross country till we got back to the road. (3:45pm, 7 hours exactly w lots of stops)
