In the snow
Took about an hour from the corner store to the fire tower. Three inches of snow on the ground with a savage wind once I attained the ridge. Excellent views.
This was a good day hike. Easy to get to, nice views, not too many people. And yes, random rusted cars, but there was a gorgeous waterfall along the way back that made it all worthwhile.
Nice hike other than the staircase. Weird seeing all the old cars broken down in the forest in the middle of nowhere. Interesting seeing the building remains near the top.
Have done this a couple of times, the summit view (especially south to NYC skyline) is best in Hudson Highlands. Highly recommend Breakneck -> Beacon route.

A great Highlands hike
This is a Hudson Highlands classic if you do it from Breakneck Ridge. You can take the Stillman trail to the Breakneck bypass trail and then go along past sunset point on towards South Beacon. It's a lot of ups and downs, but it is worth it. The observation tower is no longer open, and is falling apart. I really liked this mountain in the fall.

Made it from Breakneck
A bit hazy and hot for October but still a great hike. I'm still waiting to see or hear a rattler.

Nice Hike
Great views, and not too many people on the trail, even for a gorgeous day. Slightly surreal though seeing rusted out abandoned station wagons a few miles into the hike.

Great Views
Great views along the way. Fairly deserted through most of the hike. My second favorite hike in the area after breakneck ridge.

mmhh baconErr, Beacon. Fun hike, the metal staircase at the start is def the worst part of this hike. Good views from the summit....anyone need a new old car?
