"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Route Climbed: Guanella Pass Date Climbed: September 2003Did this one in the snow. It made it hard to follow a trail.

Route Climbed: Main Route Date Climbed: 1/15/05This winter ascent was my first fourteener! The snowshoe slog through the willows was a bit arduous, but once we made it past the lip it was an awesome climb! The wind was crazy through the saddle, but the peak was calm. Good times! P.S. the closest approach was from Duck Lake due to Guenella Pass' closure.

Route Climbed: West Slope and Sawtooth ridge. Date Climbed: July 2000, June 2001Sawtooth ridge was great fun, but my favorite climb of Bierstadt was with my 59 year-old mother on the West Slopes....one year after her full knee-relpacement and her first 14er.
Its never too late to start.

Route Climbed: Guanella Pass Date Climbed: August 27, 2004Great view of Gray's and Torry's. I am excited about climbing the Sawtooth Ridge sometime to access Mt. Evans.

Route Climbed: North ridge, via Sawtooth from Mt. Evans Date Climbed: September, 1990During the brief time I still thought that graduate school was a good idea, I took a few hours away from my studies to do a day hike from Mt. Evans. I downclimbed the Sawtooth to the saddle just below Bierstadt, and scrambled up the north ridge to the summit. It was my first Colorado 14'er. A real nifty place. I didn't want to leave.

Route Climbed: West Slope Date Climbed: October 16, 2004My wife and I climbed Mount Bierstadt from Guanella pass today. High winds and snow made this a tough, but fun climb.

Route Climbed: Bierstadt trail, Guanella Pass Date Climbed: June 8, 2004What a way to start the summer! Hiked Bierstadt then took the Sawtooth over to Evans. It was awesome! My many thanks to the people who built the boardwalk over the willows!

Route Climbed: West Slopes Date Climbed: March 20, 1999My first 14er! We drove to Guanella Pass to snowshoe, but ended up climbing Bierstadt instead. I was abit unprepared, in that I did not have enough water for the entire trip and I got very thirsty near the end.

Route Climbed: Sawtooth Ridge Date Climbed: May 11, 2002Started from Summit Lake and ascended Mount Spaulding first, then traversed the Sawtooth Ridge all the way to the summit of Bierstadt. The Sawtooth Ridge was an awesome traverse, and this was my second time on Bierstadt.

Route Climbed: West Slope via Guanella Pass TH Date Climbed: September 29, 2004My first Fourteener since I moved here since I moved here earlier this month!
The snow on the West Slope made for a fun and interesting climb, and the weather was great on the summit around 10am.

Route Climbed: West Slopes decent via Sawtooth Date Climbed: August 22, 2004Made it to the summit in 1:43 with a non stop push. Passed everyone on the trail that was ahead of me. We then hiked across the Sawtooth and then back down to Guanella Pass. Adding the Sawtooth decent to the hike made for a much longer and more interesting day.

Route Climbed: Standard- easiest Date Climbed: June 2004Good beginner hike. I got to watch a newbie try glissading head first on his back and almost slam into some rocks (agains my will and while ignoring my shouting to stop) I was thinking I would have a worthy submission to "Accidents in Mountaineering 2004"
oh yeah, also the day after arriving in Denver. I live in MN

Route Climbed: West Slope Date Climbed: Aug 20 2004Easy 1:50 minute hike. My girl friends second peak.

Route Climbed: Guanella Pass Date Climbed: August 27, 2004Nice, easy 4-hour hike to the summit. The weather was very poor, but not dangerous. We encountered fog throughout the entire hike, but the wind cleared some fog long enough for some great pictures from the summit.

Route Climbed: from the guanella pass trailhead Date Climbed: august 21, 2004The day started out wonderful, and climbing proceeded smoothly, with four new climbers taking on their first fourteener. However, at the summit we encountered a wind driven snowstorm, with lightning dancing on the peaks to the southwest. On the whole a worthwhile and fun climb.

Route Climbed: From Guanella Pass trailhead Date Climbed: Monday September 6, 2004Started up at 6:25AM only a few cars in the lot. Reached the summit at 8:10AM, one guy was heading down as I arrived so I had the summit to myself for nearly 30 mins. Spectacular views in all directions, perfect weather, lots of fresh snow all along the divide, only a dusting on Bierstadt. Headed back down with lots of people coming up, reached the trailhead by 10:25AM. My 4th 14'er and another great morning!

Route Climbed: East Ridge via Scott Gomer Creek Date Climbed: 8/16/03Encountered some bad weather at about 14,000'. Reached the summitt in a hail storm; luckily the storm didn't last long. Prior to the hail, this was a beautiful climb with lots to see throughout the climb.
