"As an adolescent I aspired to lasting fame, I craved factual certainty, and I thirsted for a meaningful vision of human life - so I became a scientist. This is like becoming an archbishop so you can meet girls."

Route Climbed: Kite Late Date Climbed: 2 September 2005Did the trifecta along with Democrat and Lincoln (quadfecta with Cameron too). Made the summit just as a group of folks with a hard-core very-driven paraplegic in a special bicycle made for climbing came around the last bend. Truly awesome! The trip down to Kite Lake was insane!! My tricks learned on Cameron Cone (skiing down the pebbles and loose rocks) were extremely helpful!

Route Climbed: Decalibron Date Climbed: 7-23-05Weather was perfect, people were everywhere, all over the mtns. It was nice to see how many people are getting into hiking 14ers. Descending Bross was interesting with all the loose scree, it was almost easier to "ski" down the rocks.

Route Climbed: from Mt.Cameron Date Climbed: July 24,2005Nice and easy hike from Kite Lake over Mt.Democrat and Mt.Cameron. Met up with Ryan on summit. Did not enjoy the steep descend on the West Slopes of Mt.Bross, except for watching the marmot. We were lucky it started raining/hailing only as we had completed the descend! Overall great hike with not much wind on the summits. Looking back at Mt.Democrat from Bross, we decided that Mt.Democrat is a beautiful mountain!

Route Climbed: Kite Lake via Lincoln Date Climbed: June 1, 2002Like most people, we climbed Bross with Lincoln & Cameron. This was our second attempt at this combo. We were turned away earlier in the season by a knarly snow storm (thunder snow!)
These 3 14ers via kite lake are among the easiest in the Centennial State.

Route Climbed: Northeast Slope Date Climbed: May 25, 2002Completed the quadruple with Bross. Number 6 was not much of a climb, which was great after a long day of hiking. The summit by Trent has forever been named "Hoss on Bross" Descending the ridge on the west slope was spectacular. The old man, Uncle Jack somehow beat us to the bottom. For a moment we thought fell and was left for mountain goat. Give us the damn keys next time, UJ.

Route Climbed: Standard Date Climbed: February 21, 2005I can't believe I tried to climb the scree field...bummer...turned around again less than 500' from the summit. Maybe next winter.

Route Climbed: Dolly Varden Mine Date Climbed: August 2003If not for the cars going up and down the mountain, I would have enjoyed this one more so than I did. Once you get up past the mine shack, it is pretty easy. The scenery is about a "6." Good training mountain for a novice.

Route Climbed: Decalibron Date Climbed: July 1, 2005Mount Bross's huge, flat summit provided good views of Mount Democrat and Cameron Basin. The most memorable part of my hike was the descent down the West Slopes route, which was steep, slippery, and screey.

Route Climbed: West slopes to Bross, then the Decalibron in reverse. Date Climbed: July 1, 2005#1 for the day, doing the Decalibron in reverse. Nice sunny day, but super windy and somewhat chilly (about 32 at the TH at 6am). Not much snow left, ran this in running shoes w/ a light pack to train for the Pikes Peak Ascent.

Route Climbed: Kite Lake (Bross, Cameron, Lincoln) Date Climbed: 9/02Easy slog from Lincoln. We decended via the gully. . .steep scree! Probably more fun to glissade it in the snow!
