"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Good outingMy wife Penelope and I scrambled up this peak in August of 2017. We found the route fairly nice, the rock was not too bad by Rockies standard and we had a good time. Nice outing in the Kananaskis area.

Great solo tripIt was my first solo summit and also my first solo 10,000 feet plus peak. I scrambled in perfect weather and had the whole approach and mountain to myself, ideal day for soloing.

Busy PeakChester is a very rubbly mountain, even by Rockies standards. Not a lot of hands-on scrambling, but the views are great from the narrow summit.

Scramble twiceA favorite of mine, climbed it twice. Once in 1999 and another time in 2003. A great peak to bring relative novices out to discover the mountains. More than a walk up, this peak offers interesting scrambling but without too much exposure.

Thank Goodness for Snow!Great Scramble! Luckily there was still lots of snow in the chute up the the col, so we didn't have to fight the scree. Above the col the snow was a lot less helpful and a dangerous looking cornice was still frantically hanging on to the summit ridge, thus we did not risk walking on it to find the summit cairn. Had great weather. Started out at 10:00 were on the summit at 2:15 and were back to the car at 5:15. My Dad did great on his first scramble at 58 years of age!

Too Hot to Climb? It was a fantastic, hot day in early September. Ran into two parties of two descending from the col. One guy thought me crazy to try ascending in the heat of the afternoon. Started at noon, topped out at 4:45 p.m., back at the trailhead at 7:45 p.m.

Route Climbed: Scramble Date Climbed: September, 2003This is a local popular scramble and a decent ski area as well. There are many mountains to scramble back here including another popular outing, Fortress Mountain, but Chester is the shortest (I did the last 2500' in 1:20). Still a hump as everything in the Rockies is. I posted a trip report and my web site to the links for more info or pictures on my scramble. Thanks for adding it William!
