Good start to My Holiday...  Sucess!

This is basically a blaze your own trail situation, great views, good times, no summit can?!? after seeing that there really aren't any trails (they have become quite overgrown), take water & aim for the flagpole.

Round-about Route  Sucess!

Parked in the dirt above the road maintenance building complex on the south side of town. Climbed up to water towers and took a right so we could get to the "V" formed with white rocks. Continued north past the "V" and scrambled up the mountain side. The only slightly difficult part was finding the best path through the large loose rocks and snow patches near the top. Took the power-line road (which runs into a dried up creek-bed) for descent, followed by a visit to the Bucket of Blood Saloon.

From Virginia City  Sucess!

After a failed attempt at Raymond Peak from Markleeville on Saturday (trickier-than-expected route finding, heinous bushwhacking, and a foot or more of unconsolidated snow--I didn't even get close to my objective before turning around), I retreated to Carson City that evening to lick my wounds. Browsing SP in my cosy, warm motel room, I stumbled across this peak.

It was very cold (18 degrees when I started), but the peak has surprisingly good views--it's well worth a visit. There's better footing on the right (north) side of the SE slopes as you hike up from the NV 341/342 junction.

Afterwards, I drove up to Spooner Summit to snowshoe out to Snow Valley Peak. Fun day.

Normal route  Sucess!

Uneventful climb from the road below. Interesting flagpole with old "signatures" dating from 1870s.

Route Climbed: B street slog Date Climbed: 5 May 2005  Sucess!

Climbed again last night on a whim with my little sister to celebrate the semester's end! Full moonlight, great view from Minden to Fallon to Stead, my sandals did not like the steep and sandy 2000' climb.

Route Climbed: Traverse Date Climbed: Dec 2004  Sucess!

Climbed up from VC in a circular ridge traverse with my visiting brother one fine winter day. Started from the extreme north end of town and followed snow-lined ridges around to Davidson's west side. The views from this peak are not to be missed!

Route Climbed: B Street route Date Climbed: April 23, 2005  Sucess!

The steep sandy path to the summit was completely free of snow. Outstanding views from the summit on this clear morning. Next up for the day was Snow Valley Peak with snow and clouds.

Nice day with a clear view from the summit. I wish I knew half the mountains I saw in the distance. Check out my trip report.

Route Climbed: 'B' Street route Date Climbed: April 7, 2003  Sucess!

Having just gotten into chasing county highpoints less than two months earlier, my wife and I made a trip to the Lake Tahoe area. While there I had a chance to 'sneak' down and

hike up from Virginia City to the summit of Mt. Davidson. My wife was really 'ticked' when she found out that I had gone to Virginia City and hadn't taken her along so she could shop and sightsee while I was going up and down Davidson. Me bad.

The view from up there was awesome and since then I've bought a camera that has the panoramic capability. Its a 360 paradise. Also neat was the pealing of the bells from the Catholic Cathedral down below in Virginia City.
