"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Wet walk upWalking in a creek. It was raining and the trail turned into a stream. Toward the top the trail becomes overgrown.

State HP #27A rainy day with no view from the tower. I explored the woods near the tower and touched possible boulders but I did not investigate the proposed summit north of Mount Davis Road.

First mountain in over a yearI was intending to go on March 13, because it was the anniversary of my Grandma's death. I ended up going a couple of days because the weather forecast was predicting heavy snow, and I was pretty sure that the dirt roads weren't going to get plowed.
I took Shelter Rock Road and then the High Point Trail to the summit. Then, I took the Shelter Rock Trail down to Shelter Rock Road and then back to my car.
It was the first mountain I did in over a year because of various health problems that my wife and I had. It was such a joy to be back out in the forests again. I love you, Grandma!

HP# 6Had a couple weeks off from work, decided to take a trip to the East from IL to hit a bunch of HPs. (HP 3 of 9 during this trip.) Nice informational setup, available hiking trail, nice tower view. Cool USGS seal on top of the rock, almost gave up looking.

High Point #18Had a long day of driving from Washington DC to Shenandoah National Park and doing a hike there, WV's high point and MD's high point so caught this one as the sun was basically set and had to finish it up in the dark... would come back for better views in the daytime for sure!

Mt DavisTook the loop trail. Tug trail. Not a well marked trail at all..only view was from the tower..approximately 6 miles total loop. Tower is not visible from the trail until right at parking area which is about 5miles in and then nice easy flat 1 mile back to the parking/ picnic area, which by the way is really nice.

Highpoint #10Took a boring and overgrown trail with little elevation gain from Mt. Davis road. Not very impressed with one, but at least there was a tower with some views.

NIce hike, good views from the towerDidn't do the drive-up. Mid-June is a good time for this hike, the mountain laurels are in bloom, and there are still a good number of teaberrys around for a snack.

High point #3One of 3 high points in a day (MD, PA, WV). Beautiful area. The tower is more rickety than it looks but has great views. The surrounding trail isn't well maintained but is very nice. The USGS marker for the mountain is atop one of the boulders by the tower.

Parking area and Trail covered in Ice and Snow3/3 HP today. The views from the overlooks and at the top of the structure were stunning. It was a bright sunny day 20deg F and no wind. The road conditions all the way up were not good, 6=12" of snow and ice. The trail likewise was snow and ice covered. Even the steps leading to the top of the tower were a bit icy...
