Mount Doane

Mount Doane

Nearing the top from the northeast ridge route; the ramp that goes left onto the south face is easily visible.

Memory Lane

When I was a fresh-faced kid from North Carolina starting my new job at Yellowsone Lake, this was my very first scrambling objective in the Rockies. After walking down the ridge from Top Notch, I took one look at this aspect of Doane and said, "that's impossible," and switched my objective to Mt. Langford. Interesting to see it in a picture all these years later--wonder why it didn't occur to me to swing around to the left.

Re: Memory Lane

Thanks for the memory! I thought the same thing and was trying to swing way wide around the bottom to the left when I noticed the ramp and decided to go see it up close; I'm glad I did! I want to summit Langford someday as well...
