Great afternoon hike, beautiful alpine lakes. One of my favorite outings, got to swim in one of the lakes right at the base of mt. eddy....was glorious to swim in there after descending the peak!
nice hike with my wife and friends. Deadfall lakes were surprisingly nice. Great Shasta views of course. Had a nice dinner in Weed after the hike.

from Deadfall Meadows/Deadfall Lakes TH
The ease with which spectacular views was obtained was refreshing after lots of rocky scrambling and bushwhacking on the prior hikes this week. Smooth trail allowed for 1.5 hours up and 1 hour down with plenty of time to lounge at the top taking in the expansive view of the Northstate. I suspect my young kids will be ready to take this summit on soon.

Sisson-Callahan Trail
Took the old Sisson-Callahan trail. Starts at the north fork of the sacremento river and follows up to the ridge where you can finally see the deadfalls lakes. Trail isn't very easy to follow as I don't think much people use it anymore. It was still a great trip. Twenty miles round trip so it took us all day. Views were great. Jumped in one of the lakes for a nice dip.

Smokey summit views
I didn't get to the trail head until about 4 pm but decided to go ahead and do the hike anyway because I wanted to be at Lake Tahoe by the weekend and wanted to climb a number of the PCT county high points on the way south. It was a bit cool and windy on the top, so only spent a few minutes there, but made it back before sunset and then drove down the mountain lower to camp where it was warmer. Total time 3:13 RT. The first of 6 PCT county high points this week.

lots of snow
too much snow on the road, had to turn back with my 2wd
Had a great hike to the summit with Amy, Andy and Beth. We started at Parks Creek trailhead (which adds a little distance but saves a few hundred feet elevation gain vs. Deadfall Ck trailhead) and round trip totalled 11.0 miles. This included a little wandering around the lower Deadfall Lakes. All in all a beautiful jaunt with a neat subalpine feel that includes meadows, mountain lakes, and amazing views of Shasta and northern California.
I think there may be somethig wrong with me since I'm willing to drive 8 hours for a 3 hour hike. Very nice area. The view of Mt. Shasta from the summit is stunning. I'll have to spend more time in the area. Couldn't find the summit register.

Siskiyou Lake: Summer 1969
Climbed it with a friend in the Boy Scouts. We must have been 13 years old at the time. Made it down in the dark. There was no trail to the top in those days.

Boys Hike
Did this day hike with my 13 year old son. Started from Parks Creek TH and had a great time. Shared the Deadfall Lakes trail with about 20 Boy Scouts camping at Middle Deadfall. Not a cloud in the sky.."I can see my house from here" moment. And, yes, the register was still there.

Hike with my Dad
Hiked from the PCT gap, hit the summit in a little over 2 hrs. Views were spectacular, swam in the little lake on the way back. I've wanted to climb this mountain for years, was happy to do it with my Dad.
EDIT: Your register is there, signed it. Thanks.

A Different Route!
I climbed Mt. Eddy with my step father when I was 14, however, we started the climb at 4,000 ft. from our cabin in Hammond Ranch. Since there are no trails leading from our cabin, we had to embark on an epic 6 hour bushwhack then, when we arrived above tree line, a 5 mile ridge walk to the summit. What a long day!

Went Swimming
It was an exteremly hot day and all I could think about while I was going up the trail was coming back down to go swimming in one of the lakes, but once on top I was loving the views of Shasta. I did get my swim in though and it felt wonderful.
