hot and sunny
Hiked in conjunction with Pierce from Lakes of the Clouds. There were lots of people at the summit, but the views (facing west especially) were great. It must have been about 85 degrees that day, and I got a sunburn since most of the hike was in and out of treeline.

The weather reports said "kiss the clouds goodbye". Well, the clouds decided they weren't going with a kiss, but with a punch. Things were OK until just about where the treeline ended. We had a brief squall that dumped a bit of very cold rain. The treetops were coated in ice and the winds above treeline were 50-60 MPH. I threw on a fleece and a light down coat, over my base layer and was OK. Several other groups of hikers turned back because they did not have enough gear to go further in the cold. The temp at the summit was about 35 so the wind chill was cold. I took the mandatory pic at the summit and headed down. One more off my list. This would have been a very enjoyable climb if it was just a bit less windy. Great views from the summit. The Washington weather station was covered in ice.

Great views all around from the summit of this peak. Looked like we had come so far! Windy and cloudy, with light sprinkles, but no major rain, thank goodness. Lovely!

Mount Eisenhower
Climbed with Pierce, Franklin and Monroe via the Crawford Path from Highland Center. Second stop in a great first visit to the Presidentials. Amazing views from the top of Eisenhower's broad grassy dome. Above treeline for most of the way.

Part of my Crawford Path Hike
Part of my Crawford Path hike. Up until I reached the base of Eisenhower, the Presidential Range was covered in fog. As I started up the turn off that goes to the summit of Eisenhower, the fog started to lift, and gave way to a clear view of the summit and the valleys below. Words could not describe how beautiful this was. Very windy though.

to my day-hike of Webster, Jackson, Pierce, and Eisenhower. Overall, about one third of the trail was still covered in snow. No bugs, though!
