My first 14
Easier than I was expecting and a great introduction to 14's. Took me three hours and forty five minutes to the summit from the parking lot near the Mt Massive trailhead to the east. My first climb outside the foothills of the East Coast.

2nd Ascent
This was an easy winter ascent due to very good weather. We've also climbed it in spring via the West Face snow couloir (also easy).
Great day on Elbert, still snow and lots of frustrating postholing between treeline and meadow on the descent. I was prepared for the first false summit, but the next two tricked me. Either way, it was still fun, in spite of postholing up to my waist!

Tough Winter Day
Chilly from the start, made it through the snow to treeline where we met horrible winds. Group of 6, 3 turned back due to wind, 3 of us (the heavier ones) made the summit. Short summit stay before bolting back to the safety of the trees.
Solo ascent of East Ridge in what was technically winter, but it was 50 degrees at the trailhead and the trail was half melted out. Just an unbelievably low snow year and a very warm last 2 weeks. It almost felt like cheating to call this a winter ascent, I didn't even need snowshoes... Felt like late April or Early May.

A great Christmas climb!
What a fantastic way to spend Christmas on a beautiful sunny day. Rather cold in the morning but it warmed up nicely and the summit views were stellar! Only six total people on the mountain.

Nice loop over Bull Hill, Elbert, South Elbert and Cosgriff. Had a close call with some lightning coming off Cosgriff.

A tiring climb
A very tiring hike for me. Flew in from Phoenix at 8 pm, on the trail by 8 am the next day. Climbed this one, but with difficulty. Great weather and great views pulled me through this one.

Endless hike
My wife and I did the normal route. Summer had just came in and there still was a lot of snow on track. A very long hike on sloppy snowslopes. Pretty though without snowshoes or skies.
We had the route very much for ourselves that day.

Spring on Elbert
This was a very enjoyable mountain to climb. It was very cold on top! That's okay, because it made the experience all the more exciting. Thanks Elbert!

First Colorado 14er
I fell in love with the Rockies when I made this trip up Elbert. Beautiful views from the top and had the added bonus of getting to see a girl paraglide from around 12,000 ft. Looked pretty awesome! The hike wasn't anything too intense and was a great day hike.

piece or winter cake
Hiked a serious boot pack (stashed the snowshoes right away) to timberline, then it was bare ground. Cold but essentially a walkup. Summited with just a few of us. Made the parking lot just before total darkness set it.
