I've done this twice, being from MA. Once in winter with no one on top and a very frigid rain, and once at the start of the Long Trail with great crowds.

Nice view
As I started to know off high points in the NE, this one surprised me. It didn't have the throngs of people, and the views were really nice as the foliage started to come it.

Up the Ski Slope
I had the Thunderbolt Trail all to myself. It was covered in just enough snow to make things slick but not enough to form secure steps. I had to bear crawl up the steep sections, and later descend them very carefully. The early morning sun had not burned the clouds off of the top, so I could not see far, but the summit was a winter wonderland. HP31

That's one way to 'build character'
Hiking with 2 of my sons and a friend... we hiked S from North Adams, but took the trail up over Mt Prospect... then down into Money Brook. Turned a 2400 ft climb into a 4000 ft day.. Ouch!
Got to summit at dusk.. no views... Drove back up the next AM to see the sights...
took the very well maintained trail and saw a porcupine that seemed to have gotten into recent skirmish because quills around butt were all gone

Did Greylock en route to the Catskills for a weekend hiking trip. I went up the tower and there are new windows, which provide a clear view.

5th State Highpoint!
Started at the Jones Nose trailhead and ascended over steepish terrain for about 3/4 of a mile. Then met up with the AT for a relatively flat and pleasant hike to the summit. Views from the top were outstanding! Roundtrip time was about 4 hrs.
It was a cold day with a bit of rain here and there. there was snow on the ground at higher elevation, and once we hit the top the snow and wind kicked in and the visibility dropped to next to nothing. it was a great adventure!
pleasant drive up and a place to get a t-shirt to boot ;-]

5th State HP
Pretty easy hike along the AT. Cloudy most of the day, but it cleared up towards the end of the day and we had some gorgeous views south of the summit on the AT.

Quick playhike of sorts
HP #10 for me, #4 for my husband, #1 for our pup. They drove up, and dropped me off at an AT crossing on the road up. I reverently hiked the AT up to the summit, where they awaited me for pictures and puppykisses.
