Route: North Cottonwood Creek
18th Fourteener!!! We did Harvard on a magnificent, relatively warm, non-monsoonal early August day. Although the hike was a wee bit long, I thought it was easy as far as 14ers go.
Started early ~3:15am to help ensure safely traversing over to Columbia afterwards. Rained until treeline, but nice afterwards. The trail to Harvard is great- thanks to whoever is responsible for keeping it in such great shape- ?CFI, ?rangers.

Horn Fork Basin, summer & winter
8/22/04 - Standard route through Horn Fork Basin, a very beautiful place. Also climbed Columbia which made for a very long day.
1/2/10 - Backpacked 7 miles to treeline in Horn Fork Basin and climbed Harvard the following day. Nasty blowing snow and low visibility near summit.

Solo hike and 10th 14er for me. Great weather, but a long 12 hour day due to 50 yr. old knees! Trail was excellent as was the view of Mt. Yale. Summit was very small.

Frenchman Creek TH
Weather played a factor. Wind all day, low cloud ceiling made navigating interesting. Made the summit and headed down to better weather. Adventurous.
We set out to do Harvard and Columbia in one long push, but saw lightning in close proximity to us about 50 feet from Harvard's summit. After dropping our packs and hurriedly scrambling the last few feet of awesome class 3 rocks, we snapped a couple shots and scampered back down. Great mountain, but waaaayyyy out there. Be forewarned, the Harvard/Columbia route would have been an extremely grueling jaunt, so I would highly recommend an overnighter...beautiful alpine campsites abound.

Frenchman Creek in the WinterThree day hike. Last bivy was at around 12500ft. 14 hours on the last day took us to the top and back down. Gotta love 14ers in the deep of winter.

Great ClimbGreat climb, wonderful views from the top. I'm pretty sure we climbed this in conjunction with either Columbia or Yale, I just can't remember which.
