Solo C2C. Awesome day on an awesome mountain. Incredible views from top. Swam in gunsite lake before taking on the trail grind back to the car.

NE Scree
Had to thread snowfields and sustained some horrible scree. Looked intimidating from the ridge but with careful route finding it was nothing more than class III. Started too high on the ascent of the summit block from the ridge and did a probably unnecessary class IV move that we avoided on the decent. Great views of so many glaciers from the top.

Slow moving long day
Our group moved slow, took more breaks than I would of liked and had some strugglers. We managed to get it done though. Probably my favorite views in the park.

Mt. Jackson day hike from Gunsight
Great hike. Totally doable from Gunsight campground as day hike - we did it in 7 hrs round trip and could have moved faster. For comparison, we had done Heaven's Peak as a day hike from GTTS road a few days before, and that was a much more difficult 11 hour adventure. Jackson looks like it would be very exposed from the bottom, but there wasn't anything too crazy. Routefinding was tricky at times on the ascent and much easier on the descent. We went too far to the right between 6500 and 7500 on the ascent going up to the ridgeline. It got pretty dicey doing some class 4 moves (or higher) up some boulders to catch the ridgeline - not terribly exposed or death-defying, but definitely was more rock climbing than hiking. So definitely stay left - more on the path of our descent when going up - because once you get up on the right it's very hard to retreat. It looks visually like right is better, but STAY LEFT! We were clouded in at the top, but some of the views along the way were just amazing.

Mount Jackson
Climbed with my Dad Robby Heinrichs and Friend Todd Lugenbeel. Overcast day to start but eventually clouds cleared and summit was obtained. Day hiked from Jackson glacier overlook just shy of 15 hours round trip. Massive mountain...agree with other that the talus slopes were slow going both directions...great day and summit views were spectacular!

NE Ridge
Non-Technical, although the vast scree fields are exhausting. Summit Register was in a beer can in the summit cairn.
A great day with X and Casey. Clouds obstructed most of our time on the summit, but the views were still great.

NE Ridge
Camped in a beautiful, boulder filled meadow above the Jackson Glacier Trail with Rebecca Lahr. Headed for the summit at 7am, arriving at 11am. Beautiful views of Harrison Glacier and a sea of peaks in seemingly all directions. Rare for a GNP peak, took the same amount of time on the descent. Chunky talus on the descent towards the Jackson Glacier Trail made for slow going. Impressive mountain!
No crampons, so even the minimal snow blocked me from attaining the ridge until much higher on the mountain. All morning on the scree slope tuckered me out; topped out around 9,000 ft. Tried to take a short cut left (toward Gunsight lake) off the ridge on the way down and got into some scary climbing (as opposed to hiking), but eventually made it back to the shuttle!

First GNP 10k for me
Awesome weather. Brutal scree. Was a father/daughter outing along with my buddy Dustin. Incredible views from this summit which is 1000ft taller than most of the surrounding peaks.

Very Long Fun Day
David and I hit the trail at 5:30am in the dark. The toughest part was getting on to the NE ridge. From there it was a great climb. It had snowed the day before on the upper mountain so an inch of fresh slowed us down a little. Truly a massive mountain. Great views. We got back to the cars just before dark at 9pm. That last mile and a half up hill was exhausting.

Perfect Day for Climbing in GNP
Went up via the NE Ridge route and Jackson Glacier trail. At the summit 6 hours after leaving the Gunsight campground. Two of the three in our group made it up to the top. We decided to come down the NE ridge on the north face side. Took a long time getting one of the party memebers down making for a 12 hour round trip from Gunsight CG. Would have been quicker and easier to just descend back to the Jackson Glacier trail. None the less, an awesome day for climbing in Glacier, couldn't have dreamed of more perfect weather.
no success. attempted the northeast ridge prior gunsight pass and ran into what i considered loose, exposed class III to IV stuff. wasn't exactly as straightforward as i thought from edward's description. i noticed that some have done this as a day hike - kudos. will someday return, it's a massive mountain. attempted again via jackson glacier the following day, weather prevented upward movement. i did find an ice axe on the north slope. so, if by some random chance you lost one and can identify it, it's yours ......
sounds like almost the exact same issues I encountered: loose, laborious hiking and a constant nagging feeling that I wasn't where I was supposed to be. I also wish to return to conquer this peak, but since it's almost 2,000 miles from home, it might have to wait!
