I don't know what your day job is, but consider taking up writing if you decide to quit it!

Nelson,

Thank you much fo the vote and praise. I don't make my living writing. I build and maintain flight simulators. I wish (like many other SPer's I'm sure) I could make a living taking photographs. But in the meantime I'm content to drill and wire fake airplanes.

Jon

PS So you're back in Colorado now. Do you have a fall itenerary?

Jon, That sounds like an interesting job. You have no doubt seen the movie Flight of the Phoenix?

No definitive plans for fall. Andy and talked about trying to do something in the IPW in the next few weeks. Any ideas? Perhaps we could converge there some day? I also need to do a lot of hikes with my wife this fall, as we are heading to Kilimanjaro in January.

Nice work, but what happened to Cameron Peak? ;-)

Andy,

Thanks for the vote. I would like to do a page on Cameron still (along with a host of other peaks) as soon as I can get around to it. It is just that Julian left me with a certain indelible impression that is hard to describe (i.e. I think it scared me) : )

Hope fall is treating you well Andy!

Gracefully well written as I've ever seen (check for spelling and typos), and awesome photos. Nice to see this remote spot appearing on SP. Can the other tuffies, such as Jagged Mountain, be far behind? Julian sounds like a real bar (bear), so I might have to just enjoy it from my computer desk!

Thank you Aaron.

Despite all I have said I am convinced I could find a better way into the Gorge Lakes... From Timber Lake maybe... Anyway this was a realy neat area for me because I have ignored the park based on my preconceptions... this climb opened my eyes. I would not classify it in the same league as Jagged but if I ever get over that way perhaps I could compare and contrast it. Hope fall is treating you well.

Jon-Ten years ago I had the same preconceptions of the Park. You and I now know that's a bunch of bull. I hope you enjoy as many treasures and surprises in the Park in the future as I have! It's a wonderful place!

Good luck in your future endeavors in the Park!

Hopefully over winter you can do the geology piece for Mount Morrison.

Superb job. I like the commentary on RMNP and Glacier Gorge especially. Kudos on taking the tough route through Forest Canyon! I've only heard miserable things about that bushwhack, but the rewards are so great.

Jon, I know you spent a lot of time writing this page, the work here is some of your best. It must have been painful revisiting that day to write up a descriptive route. Hey, bottom line-we had s great day that tested our physical and mental well being and we handled it with a postive attitude and a ton of power bars.

Kane,

Thanks for the vote. And in all honesty it wasn't painful at all recounting the deathmarch down the Gorge Lakes drainage. By now I remember it quite fondly. Realy I had a great time that day and when I think back to it I think of walking along the shores of Arrowhead Lake or along the stream teeming with trout as it meanders through grassy meadows... I don't think so much about stepping over yet another down tree or sinking it a boggy expanse of willows. I hope my description does serve as a deterent because it would be quite unfortunate if my route description encouraged someone to go there if they did't fully know what they were getting into. I might rewrite the route description to make it more useful.

Anyway. Hope Kebler treated you right. What did you climb? How is Jim? Oh and if you do a Terra Tomah page take whatever info you want from Julian.

Thanks again.

Look for a Marcellina Mountain SP page tonight. Jim and I had one hell of a trip. Marcellina on Sunday, West Beckwith attempt (500ft from summit-turned away by an ascending, skinny-ass knife ridge with 1000-ft dropoffs on both sides) and the summit of Ohio Peak in the Anthracite Range on Monday, and Teocalli on Tuesday.

The leaves are peaking as we speak. Lets do a hike sometime soon and I'll fill you in on the details.

Good one. I think I'd rather read about this one than climb it after hearing about that bushwhack. I also heard you encountered the world's largest fox the night before. I lost some sleep and 1/3 of a foot-long sub to that crafty villain.

Mount Julian is a beautiful peak and deserves a page like yours. When I was bushwhacking up Stones Peak I was keeping my spirits up by thinking that you and Kane must have found it even harder in Forest Canyon. So, I don't know whether and when I will attempt Julian, though it certainly vies with Hayden Spire for the title of best-looking mountain in its surroundings. The south face is quite impressive, and so is the ridge that connects it to Cracktop--at least when seen from Chief Cheley.

Fabio,

As always thank you much for the vote and corrections. My spelling can be atrocious... Anyway I would recomend Julian. I would be interested in a Milner Pass route maybe if you ever wanted company...

Cheers

Yes, Julian from Milner Pass is something I'd very much like to do. Do you have a time in mind? Trail Ridge Road may close soon...
