Hot day
Lots of butterflies at the top. Lots of mosquitoes near the creek that we were always closer to than we wanted to be.

Trail
Hiked up with my dog, who is named Lola. It was her birthday. The hike up is easy and the views of Castle are pretty good. Otherwise nothing too eventful to report on this one.

Dayhike
Fun dayhike with my wife, some friends and their dog. There was a bit more snow than expected but we all made it up the snowy portions without spikes. Very windy at the top so we signed the register then ate lunch in the four-sided rock wall. A friend and I split off to bad Lola North while the rest of the crew went back down the way we came up. We met back up in Cold Stream Meadow and headed back to the car.

Big Brown Bear
Summited Lola and Lola North. We saw a BIG Brown Bear on our descent. He was lookin' right at us, seemed all flex with his hair stickin' straight out before he quickly turned tail and disappeared.
Third time's a charm! I had been out on this trail twice in 2016 but hadn't made it to the summit due to snow. We had a nice cool morning start (37 degrees around 8:30). After getting to the Mt. Lola summit, I tagged the North Peak since I knew it's the Sierra County high point. Nice weather, but there was some smoke and haze in the air. On the way down, we ran into a woman who had two large but friendly goat-rams. Super cute!

North Ridge
Did this with Aj expecting a long day. However, due to the dry conditions we were able to drive to the Mt Lola Trail signpost. This saved us about 10miles of slog. The road was snowy and icy in parts, but passable in a passenger car. A nice warm day with clear views.

Two Lolas
The trail is easy to follow, the only possible confusion is when it follows a jeep road for awhile. Shortly after the broken down bridge it goes off to the left. Coming back I notice bike tire tracks on what appears to be a use trail on the left side of the road, but I didn't follow it. It appeared to merge with the trail again right where it first met the road.
I also hiked over to North Lola, which is at the far end of the ridge between the two peaks. There are summit registers on both peaks. Round trip time was 4:24.
