Cold day
State park is very nice - Lodge in the park overlooks a gorge. hike to summit is short 1/2 mile and fairly easy. Was very cold windy day with ice on the trees and overcast - no view at the top.

2nd time's the charm
On a previous drive back to Indiana for Christmas, I arrived a bit too late and got myself a little turned around. I didn't think I was on the top since there was no summit marker. So I had to come back on another Christmas-time drive. I planned it so that I would arrive early in the day, so I actually made it. A nice little stroll for me, Okie, and Sandy after being cooped up in the car.

Mt. Magazine on a whim
Although you can drive nearly to the top, my purpose was to experience the mountain. Emergent autumn in mid October made for amazing pictures of flora and fauna as I hiked nearly every trail.
1 mile round trip. A little late for fall colors, but got a beautiful day to be on a highpoint.

Who knew Arkansas was so pretty
Great hike with my son. We took the North Rim Trail from the Visitors Center and made it to the top at sun down. We then hiked down to the lodge to get some great pics.

After summitting Music Mtn in Hot Springs headed here in afternoon before spending night in Memphis. Easy and short hike, forest provided needed shade. Highpoint 38 in the bag and halfway through this 4 state HP trip.

Spent a long evening atop the summit for July 4th. Stayed after a beautifully morphing sunset to listen to the fireworks echo up from the valley.

[Date Approximate] We spent the night up here in a little camping area and our tent nearly was ripped to shreds by the wind. Ended up having to spend the night in the truck because the lightning and wind were so bad we were afraid to get hit. Fun hike though!

Trail ran from the lodge.
Drove from Grantsville UT, all night on Wed the 5th to Mt. Elbert in CO. Got in at 2am and was up at 6:30 am. Summited Elbert that morning and drove all the way to trailhead of Wheeler, NM that same day. Was up at sunrise and was the 2nd person on top of Wheeler for the day.Drove all the way to Black Mesa in OK that afternoon. Summited Black Mesa the next morning and drove all the way to Mt. Magaizine in AR. I slept in the back of my van in the parking lot of the Lodge. Didn't want to drive around in the campsite so late at night. Trail ran to the summit very early Sunday morning. Left immediately and drove to St. Louis to start a grad school program that night. Back to Back to Back to Back state high points. Was a good road trip.

This was a disappointingly easy hike, it seemed like we got out of the car, walked for 10 minutes, and we were already at the high point sign. I knew beforehand that it would not be challenging, but I was still a little surprised. However, it was just as well because we did not get there until late in the day and a longer, more challenging hike would have meant that we would have been hiking in the dark. It was a lovely little jaunt anyway, and there was a thick fog that gave the woods a slightly creepy vibe that I found delightful.
Nice hike to the summit with my brother via the Mossback Ridge and Signal Hill trails. My 11th highpoint and my brother's 8th highpoint.

Hiked up from the picnic area via the Mossback Ridge and Signal Hill trails. The park map was next to useless, but the trails themselves were labeled well enough. Afterwards, I went down to the cliffs and looked out over the valley.
Hiked up the Signal Hill trail from the north side. Easy trail. Seems like a nice area. The notebook appears to need replaced soon. Go to the overlooks while you are in this park.
