Wet Wet Wet
HP# 16 - Camped the night before near Heart Lake with my buddy. This site is well maintained with showers, electricity ports. I'll say that this was one of the harder 14rs I have encountered not only because it was 14 miles round trip, but because it rained the whole time. The morning ascend started as a light mist, but it was a complete downpour over the last mile which was compounded by having to traverse boards that were almost floating in a bog at that point. Visibility was not great. We hiked the trail back in what had become a stream. The hike was a slog and we were exhausted by the end. In some ways, it will be quite memorable because of this, but I'd like to return at some point in better weather and consider a backpacking trip to enjoy some of the other summits.

Great Fall Day
With Flanders from campsite at Marcy Dam. Tried to find a way up Little Marcy afterwards but all I found were places people crapped in the woods and left their TP everywhere. Pretty gross.

I stayed in the LOJ loft and slept well. Great food. Long day hike and trail is very rocky beyond the dam site. Started at 9am and didn't get back until 8pm. Hike was difficult but wonderful.

Mountaintop Addiction Ensues
Hiked Marcy in 2013. It was not my first time backpacking, but it was the trip where I realized I was in love with the sport. I thought it would be for Marcy to be my first Climber's Log entry on summit post.

The Lake Placid area was just gorgeous, and this was a really cool hike, through thick woods, and next to a creek the whole time. The mountain is really wet, and must have a whole underground acquirer system that feeds the downhill streams. It was really cool to get into the alpine zone and above the trees. The views were incredible. The only downside, is it’s in a highly populated state, and so it feels very over governed. They even have volunteers that hike to the summit each day to police everyone. The lady that was up there was really nice, but gave me a hard time for having my dog off leash. I told her that he’s an emotional support dog, and by law, just needs to be under voice control. And she didn’t know the laws and continued to badger me about the dog, even though I explained to her that she’s not allowed to ask any additional questions once I show her the registration card. Other than that, I had a very enjoyable time there, and might go back later to do the Adirondack 46!

Cool day in the mountain starting in the 50s. Typical out and back on the mount marcy trail from Adirondack loj. Pretty long hike of 14 miles and just felt tired on this one. Last little bit above treeline was really pretty, but otherwise a long day in the woods.

Super cool mountain with many nice people on the trail! First time in the Dacks, and I can't wait to return! This outing was surprisingly enjoyable.

Memorial weekend hike
Arrived early at the Adirondack loj parking lot. Quite a few hikers already there. Several water crossings were boots came off. Came across snow about 2 miles from summit. Wished i had the microspikes but was able to hike through. Beautiful sunny day great views on top Snow melt was very noticeable on the way down. Trail is well marked.

Marcy
Done Marcy along with Skylight and Gray as part of a loop from the LOJ. Epic views from Four Corners up to Marcy's summit. Looking across Panther Gorge towards Haystack was breathtaking. Could see hundreds of miles in almost every direction. The descent on the Van Hoeven berg Trail was mostly gradual.

To date now, have climbed this in both fall and winter. Gradual day hike that never really gets steep at any point, but is very long. Great views over the Adirondacks.

Beautiful area...car camped on a jeep road about 0.5mile before the Adirondak Loj, since sleeping in car here was prohibited...Hike was a little harder than I expected but the summit views were worth it! I was amused at all the warning signs about difficulty, maybe in Winter?
I wanted to avoid the crowds if possible, so I hit the trailhead at 4:30am. Got to the top at 8am, seemed like only one group had gotten an earlier start than me that day. Very nice conditions and good views from the top. Back to the car before noon.

via Van Hoevenberg trail
Spent the previous night at the Adirondak Loj & then day-hiked this on a sunny warmer-than-expected day. I think I unknowingly dropped my GPS unit in the trailhead parking lot as it is now missing and that's the last place I remember using it.

Summited via Adirondack Loj.
We camped at the base after summiting. It was my first high peak and lot of fun. Sadly since we got a late start we didn't have adequate flashlights coming down the last bit in the dark. Good learning experience.
