"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

East SlopesAs with Elbert, I hiked Massive with McCannster. I liked Massive better than Elbert, and I thought that the view from the top was better. I was surprised at the deceiving massiveness of Massive's east slopes. On the summit we watched as a cloud developed, fueled by updrafts coming off of Massive's East side.

Main TrailWith Gareth. A bit more enjoyable than Elbert, however I didn't realize how, well for lack of a better term, MASSIVE, the slopes of this peak are. Fun day though, did the main trail in about 8 hours.

Main Trail from HalfmoonSummitted Mt. Massive on the backside of a 3week hiking trip. It was probably a good idea to make it one of the later Mountains to climb in the trip, because I was able to get well acclimated. It was still difficult, especially the final push, but I always love climbing mountains in the Sawatch Range.

Mt. Massive THEnjoyed a bluebird day up and down the slopes of Mt. Massive. Started around 7:00AM, summitted late around 11:30, and enjoyed the clear blue skies for about an hour before heading back down to the car where we arrived around 4:00PM. This route has a great, well-maintained trail and nothing overly steep on it, but this is definitely a looooong day. We were lucky to have such great weather the whole day.

Main summit from HalfmoonAwesome, beautiful trip. Got a little standing glissade in on the descent which was nice. Great flowers. We got stormed off the top so we only spent a couple minutes up there but I'll be back to do the full circle tour another day. Marni, Turbo and Chris.

Standard Route5th 14er in 5 days. Left at 5:30 am, arrived before 9am. Me and brother had the summit to ourselves for several moments with a good lunch and Paulaner beer. Glissaded down ~300ft from the ridge.

Neck-deep snowI forget the exact date. I went solo, got off route in the woods on the descent and found myself up to my neck in snow at one point (with snowshoes on). I had a sickening feeling that I would be spending the night out, but managed to get out of the deep stuff and back on route. Whew!

West couloirWe camped in the grand ampitheater at 13,000 ft. Next morning we went right up the west couloir, the summit is maybe 100 feet from the top of the couloir.

Massive ManiaMy friend Keith and I completed Massive Mania, which climbs all nine of Mount Massive's summits, five of which are above 14,000 feet. We performed the route from south to north, starting at Mount Massive Trailhead and ending at Windsor Lake Trailhead. We were above treeline for most of the day, but the weather was perfect.

east ridgeCalendar winter ascent via the east ridge from Leadville Fish Hatchery. Took the broken Highline Trail all the way to 11200' with group of 7, then followed a fresh trench to treeline courtesy of legendary Ken Nolan and Co. Winds were moderate on summit with 15 degree temp. Great winter route. 10.75 hours total hiking time (13 miles/4900'), so it would be a much longer slog with no trench to follow.
