Dayhike
Went up the old exit? road from the Christmas Tree Farm. Quick bag. On the way out a ranger was manning the locked gate I stepped around, I got nervous but he didn't say anything from his truck as I stepped around again and disappeared on the other side of the HW-35.

Return visit
Again walked up the road, through the open gate to the left and stomped around the high ground. Could not see the benchmark this time,

After Long Ridge
There were three park rangers at the trailhead to long ridge inspecting vehicles when I left to visit Mount Mcpherson. I think they were preparing to give tickets. One of them was making a joke to the other two about a purse sitting on the seat of one vehicle, stating "who wants it."
There are NO PARKING signs posted along the road everywhere near the road leading up to Mount McPherson so best just to drive up and meet the owner of the property.

Guided Tour
While on the way to Chalk Mountain made the short side trip to this one. Easy to find, there was a large sign on the road advertising the tree farm. Drove up to the parking area, and the owner came out to greet me....he had on a shirt which referred to hiking which made me feel better about the intrusion. He said he gets about 25 high pointers a year and proceeded to walk me up to the benchmark and watched as I walked around the top for a minute. On the way back to my car I told him of my plan to hike Chalk Mountain and he had just been to Big Basin SP last week!
Very thankful for the hospitality, I would suggest visiting on a weekend in December and not sneaking this one out of respect for how accommodating the owner is. Sneak ascents make sense when access in an issue, but in this case that is not so. TR is HERE.

Drive up
After bagging Loma Prieta, my tour of private property peaks in the area continued. This was an easy drive up and not very exciting, especially in the dark. Drove over to Long Ridge afterwards.

Farm still closed
A climber's log from last year reported the farm appeared to be closed -- hoping the closure was temporary I figured I'd try to kill two birds with one stone -- make a summit attempt and fulfill my wife's requirement that we get a tree as a family event. So I loaded my wife and two grumpy teenagers in the car and headed up. Yep, it's still closed. The gate had a big sign "No Trespassing" in foot-high letters, and "No Parking" signs lined the road on both sides. On the other side of the gate, lying on the ground, was a broken piece of a sign advertising Christmas trees. Pity.

Jogged up
I was heading down to hike Junipero Serra and figured I'd give this one a shot. Some of the previous log entries led me to think I'd have a shot outside of the usual 3 weeks after Thanksgiving. I made it but I was a little worried that someone from the nearby house would give me a hard time. There are definitely people out and about on the farm.
There were several cars parked out front.

This place needs Buddy the elf! The tree farm appears to no longer be in business. There were some trailers near the hp so I didn't linger. CA cohp 15/58, Cohp #90

After Long Ridge
After a scheduled trip to long ridge a few of us drove over and asked workers at the tree farm to visit the HP there. They had no issues but thought we were nuts, and seemed a bit disappointed they weren't about to sell a half dozen trees.
