Gorge Brook Trail
Lots of wind at the top, not much snow or very many views but the river was beautiful.

Gorge Brook Trail
First true summit in the quest for the 48 4000 footers (unknowingly missed Whiteface's actual summit) was awesome. It was very warm at the trailhead (55-60 degrees), and by the time we reached the summit, it was below freezing with some light snow and ice on the ground.
Have hiked Moosilauke several times in the summer and am now planning my first winter hike this November. Can anyone provide any tips/advice? Thanks

First Solo trip
My first solo hike of any significant length. The forecast was 100F in Boston, so I headed to the mountains. Good choice, it never got over 75F the entire hike! I started and ended at the Darmouth College Lodge - lovely place!! Headed up Gorge Trail to the Summit, then over the carriage road towards the South Peak (via a spur trail), and finally back to the lodge via Snapper Trail. Besides some extra mileage due to missed trail intersections, everything went really well! Did the loop in about 5.5 hrs, including the extra one hour hike due to the two missed trails... There were good views in all directions, despite the looming clouds above. There was a threat of thunderstorms but I never saw one. Barely met any people on the trails, and only a few at the Moosilauke summit, nobody at all at the South Peak.

great hike
I hiked this with my friend Dan. The Gorge River Trail was fun (it had rained the day before so it was slippery and a little more challenging). It was foggy and misty at the top, so we couldn't see anything. I'll have to do it again on a clear day.

Unbelievable Hike
Hiked the Gorge River Trail. Trail maintenance is outstanding. Never a bad step on the length of the trail. Summit was the best I've seen, not that I've seen hundreds, the meadow is incredible. A pleasure up and back.

This is the mountain we climb to start each session of camp, great mountain, cool little "alpine meadow" feel above treeline

The Day the Cold Snap Ended
On the previous night, the temp on Mt Washington was -24F with gusts over the century mark. At the trailhead on Moosilauke on my hike (11am) it had risen to about +4F to 6. At the summit it was about Zero Degrees with 50-60 mph winds, putting it in the mid-thirty's-below. Sadly, I was only above treeline for an hour, and then dropped into the ice blanketed trees as it got dark out.

Windy/Warm
Very warm day, but got windy up top, and also pretty poor visibility. Cleared up though on the way down, offering good views.

No Views
Hiked up from Route 25. What started out as a nice day was a cloudy windy viewless day once up top. Would be neat to do again on a clear day.

Mount Moosilauke
Climbed with South Peak via the Glencliff Trail from Glencliff. My first mountain in the Whites and in New Hampshire. Hiked it on just about a perfect day. Arrived on Moosilauke's broad grassy summit a little after noon. Amazing views in every direction. There were a lot of people hiking today but it hardly detracted from the overall experience.

Beaver Brook
It's a nice NH hike to Moosilauke on the Beaver Brook trail. The cascades are nice, the way up is steep, the forest is nice, and there should be good views on the top. I went on a day when the haze really limited the view. It was ridiculuos, too humid. Oh well, I still had a good time.

Hike via AT
Clouds were thick at the top - couldn't see a thing! It was cold and windy - I put gloves on. Fortunately there was a view from the South Peak. Nice carriage road at top!
