Ascent of Mount Morgan from Francis Lake
10hr summit climb from Francis Lake. Took awhile due to lack of experience and oxygen. Amazing views from the top. I’d call it class 2, maybe 2.5 in spots. No ropes needed, but the final 600ft summit face has a lot of loose rock, so care is needed in every step. Ridge isn’t very hard but has exposure.
Ascended the NW Ridge of LLP, which Secor calls "enjoyable," and I agree. Most of this ridge is class 3 I'd say, and the exposure can vary depending on the line you choose. There is an enormous gendarme about halfway up the route that must be bypassed on the west side (climber's right). The rest of the ridge proper goes. I think the only mandatory class 4 would be the last 200' or so to the summit ridge. The traverse from LLP to Morgan was excellent and I understand why it's a "classic." I returned to Mosquito Flat TH along the north-running spine of Morgan, leaving the spine at a point just east of the Eastern Brook Lakes. The hike/traverse took about 9 hours RT from Mosquito Flat. 1 hour and 50 min on NW Ridge of LLP and 2.5 hours on the traverse from LLP to Morgan.
From Francis Lake, up up up, mostly on frozen snow. As easy, technically, as is this mountain, it is a real pain to keep going up. It was difficult on snow, especially coming down when the snow started melting, but I don;t want to know how it is on those boulders. I tried to come down on the North side of the mountain, but I determined it would have been even more difficult. I hope Morgan is a girl, because I really enjoyed staying on top.
Kevin - was this for Morgan North or Morgan South?

From Francis Lake
This was better than I had expected. Class 1, sure, but on pretty solid rock and in a gorgeous location. Spectacular views from the top in all directions. Trip report
A straightforward route from the lake. Lots of bugs at the lake and the trail was more of a creek after the big winter. Fantastic views from the summit though! Some of the best around.
A great, adventurous way to climb this peak. Outstanding views.

Race against (t-storm) time from Rock Creek
Day hike via Francis Lake from Rock Creek. I was almost back at the Lake when thunder started rumbling. Not too long after that the flood gates opened and all hell broke loose. Luckily I was back in the trees; I did get soaked but no biggie on a warm August day :)

Traverse from Little Lakes Peak
Not the adventure I was expecting after reading up on it. Took a wide, loose chute directly from the summit to just north of Chickenfoot Lake.

Via Francis Lake
Fun, pretty easy hike for such a tall peak. Went over to 12 Flags after but turned around just short of the summit at a really loose section, wasn't sure if it would get any better, should have researched better first...trip report is HERE
