heat stroke
Late start on the north peak route... got to summit fine. Went to take a 15 minute nap at lower saddle on way back, ended up sleeping for an hour, temps soared and even though I downed 4 liters of water I got heat stroke. Cold shower never felt so good.

The benchtrail
My wife and I decided to go on very short notice late in the day. We ended up at the Nebo Bench Trail which apparently is not the shortest approach. It was however completely devoid of other humans and appeared to be rarely used. The trail had several places where the winter snows had removed the trail leading to dangerous moments. After about 8 miles we turned back.
We planned climbing Nebo as a training trip, I got sick on our way up and have to come back with out getting to the summit, still loved the experience...

Felt like winter
Great trip up the north ridge. Pleasant fall hike to Wolf Pass then the snow started. Winds were high and temps dropped a lot. Early winter mountaineering, glad I had my axe.

First Snows!
We got up to the top of Nebo after the first snows of the year. It was a nice hike. The slog up North Peak was a little tough but we did it. I have climbed this mountain 3 times total. I should put up a trip report...hmmm...

Finally Complete
I finally completed my summit of Mt. Nebo (north peak), 8 years after having to turn around upon reaching the south summit in 2002. This time I skipped the longer southern route and went via the north ridge (I highly recommend it, unless you want to bag all three peaks in the same trip). The weather was perfect, wind was minimal.
Nebo was a great summer hike with a little scrambling and a short glissade on the descent. The view from the summit was excellent, and was also covered with thousands of ladybugs. That I did not expect.
Dicey with snow conditions made for some ridge climbing straight up the N. face. Fantastic glissades back down. Only person on the mountain from any direction I could see.
Finally got the North Summit after feeling bad for just climbing the south years before. It is a lot steeper near the summit than I thought it would be.
Funny. I saw your entry as I was posting mine. You bet it was steep. The E. face (normal) switchback section was mired under that 'hanging on for dear life' snowfield, which I didn't want to touch with a 10-foot pole. Ridge running for now on the N. route, maybe for another month or so given the snowpack.
This was my final Utah County highpoint. Crowds were not too bad despite it being a holiday weekend. The early start time probably helped with that. I was glad to finally get this peak done because it was visible from so many others.
