Fun route solo. The crux looks steep from the approach but it is more mellow than it looks and the holds are terrific. Enjoy- I thought it was as good as Arapahoe traverse.

A perfect outing for after the first fall snow. Minimal talus-hopping, and the rime and powder made the crux interesting. Returned via Jasper. Trip report.

Great route -- class 4 crux was enjoyable (with great views). Wanted to bag Jasper afterward but was not able to due to weather. 9.75 miles, 7.5 hours total.

From Jasper
Traversed to Neva after climbing Jasper's NE ridge. Descended the Jasper-Neva saddle and enjoyed the (slightly damp) hike out the valley to rejoin the trail.
Very fun! The route is not that bad; it's just exposed. I stayed ridge direct as much as possible, which was most of the time. I was originally thinking of going back to get Old Baldy, too, but the bushwhack back to the Arapaho Pass trail took longer than expected, and I had things to do.

This route felt pretty darn steep near the finish - I'm relieved to hear others note that the finish on this couloir can surpass 50 degrees. Noticed the High Park fire flaring up, which was just chilling. All was well until things went sideways on rotten snow...woman vs. ice ax resulted in 4 stitches. Battle wounds, of sorts. I never felt a thing - wondered where the blood came from!

Neva
Today, Kimberly, Kessler, Shaylee and I set off to climb Mount Neva in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. We had planned an early start for the ascent, but I ended up being stuck at the office until almost midnight, we did not get an early start the next day.
We arrived at the trailhead at 9 am and quickly hiked to Columbine Lake. We were supposed to meet Scot Osborn as his daughter there, but since we were late, they started up the mountain. We started up the saddle and me Scot and his daughter coming down. They had turned back at some tedious loose scree and we told them we would visit their camp on the way down.
We continued through the tedious scree up to the ridge. The weather was still perfect so we were able to keep climbing and summitted Mount Neva at 1 pm. The views were fantastic and we spent time admiring the views of all the surrounding peaks and frozen lakes before heading back down the mountain.
One the way down we chatted with another climbing group before descending to Columbine Lake. There we chatted and rested with Scot and his daughter (whom were spending another night at the lake) before heading back down to the trailhead. Everyone was tired by the time we made it back.

Great day on my anual birthday climb in the IPW. Juliet felt about 50-55 degrees at the top, and 45 degrees throughout. Way steeper than the guide books make it out. Good day in the Indian Peaks.

It was a fun scramble and not as difficult as it looks. The actual summit is somewhat disappointing when considering the route to get there. We had great weather and headed over to Mt Jasper afterwards.
