Nice Afternoon
Left work at noon and was back to the car before dark. Beautiful view. A little bit of snow up near the top. Nothing major, but it made me take the scrambling section more slowly.

Steep, then steeper. It was fun when it was over. Great mountain. Nice assortment of snakes and birds. Scrub oak on side hills about as thick as I've ever seen.

Nice steep grade on this 3,5 miles trail with a beautiful view over the Salt Lake City. Gorgeous weather hiking in the t-shirt! Last third of the hike in the snow up to 3 feet still warm enough for the shirt.

Oly Poly
Hiked with Jon W. Both our first ascent of Oly and maybe the last. We made summit in under 3 hrs but it was a tough stair master session. We had just gotten laid off from Fidelity Investments a few days prior. Good view of the valley! Had some trouble finding the trail back down initially but a good scramble!
#2. 7/29/15 - Solo trail run attempt. Got lost toward the top. Too damn hot.

Finally got around to it
After a year of living in Salt Lake and seeing Olympus every day I finally got around to climbing it. I'm kicking myself for not getting around to it earlier- what a great mountain! I only wish I'd started earlier- bit of a posthole nightmare on the way down.

Lost Snowshoe Found
I picked up a snowshoe on the way down. Send me a message if it is yours.
This was my first ascent of Mt. Olympus. I hiked solo and made good time. I was happy that I brought my snowshoes, but they were not totally necessary. It was extremely cloudy near the top, but started to clear up after a while. Caught a little rain on the way down.
June 4, 2005: Did the West Slabs with PellucidWombat, after which we continued on to tag each of the summits of Olympus from the northernmost to the southern main summit. This is a good, fairly long day of scrambling.
Kamps Ridge: Way back in the day with GlennMerrill. We got hopelessly lost on the way down among a tangle of brush. Famous last words: "We don't need headlamps. If we're not back by nighttime, we deserve to be hiking in the dark."
Forgotten Arete: I climbed this with Glenn Merrill and an out-of-towner from summitpost, and have soloed it twice since as a nice workout in the preseason.
Guert's Ridge: This (along with Forgotten Arete) has become my standard early season tune-up since it melts out and is climbable in April. I've climbed it three times since the first time in 2006 or 2007, and it's a good time every time. One time I climbed, then descended to the base of Forgotten Arete and climbed that before calling it a day.
