From Twin Lakes
This was my 2X hiking this peak. Climbed with Kane. Still lots of snow on north side. Bagged Agassiz before heading back via Smith Lake. Kane fell on the way down and severely broke his left arm and a couple of ribs. We'll always remember this one!

Slabs o' insanity
Part of 1-day deso range traverse.

Route Climbed: Smith Lake Date Climbed: September, 1996
Started at Wrights Lake and headed up the trail to Grouse, Hemlock and Smith Lakes. After arriving at Smith Lake, I left the trail and rounded the south side of the lake, then climbed to the ridge above the SE side of Smith Lake. Dropped into a basin west of Price but decided to hop back over the ridge and summit from the SW slope. Great views!!
Route Climbed: SW Face Date Climbed: Three times in the 1980s
Living in Lake Tahoe and having the summers off from teaching afforded me months to explore the nearby mountain. The Crystal Range is positioned just right to see the Desolation Wilderness and the gentle dropping hills of the western slope. Due to its remoteness, Price is not crowded and has a great view with interesting terrain.
