Can anyone tell me if the route following the creek up onto the plateau from near the Glacier Lake trailhead is technical? e.g., the one shown in the link below...
Just replying in case anyone else ever has this question. It is not a technical route at all and safer for your vehicle (although the road is still not good by any measure.) You can leave the glacier lake trail at any time, but most people actually wait until right after, or right before the large bridge that crosses the creek. You will be in the trees for awhile, but it opens up halfway up the ravine to where it is quite easy to see where you are going. There is more of a game trail than one might expect as well. There are also some remnants of cairns to give you some solace once out of the trees.

It looks pretty hairy, but if it's something hikeable from that area then I'd rather not drive Hellroaring Road.
