Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: 21 October 2005
Nice day hike on a rare day off... views were incredible from the summit, reaching all the way to (I think) the Willapa Hills in Southwestern Washington. Scramble was nice, though coming down can be a bit tricky.
Two of my friends and I hit the trail about 8 and made the summit plateau by 10 or 10:15. We enjoyed the views of Rainier, the entire Olympic Range and the Seattle skyline. Then we decided to do the summit scramble which is listed as a class 3, but is very simple and enjoyable. From the top we had excellent views of Mount Baker and we also believe that we saw Garibaldi in B.C. as well as The Willapa hills on the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately. Teneriffe Mountain blocked Glacier Peak and Mount Stuart which would ahve been very visable.

I decided to wrap up summer break with an easy climb of Mount Si today. I felt strong and kept a quick pace, reaching Snag Flats after a half hour and the summit area in 1 hour 10 minutes. I had the Haystack all to myself for 40 minutes, but clouds concealed most of the views. Passed several dozen UW students on the way down.
Route Climbed: Regular Trail Date Climbed: 28 August 2005
Had a nice hike today. As usual, went straight to the top of the haystack once I reached the plateau. Very nice day - could see pretty far at times. Was a little chilly at the top of the haystack - but not very windy.
Route Climbed: Main trail Date Climbed: 28 August 2005
Got a late start due to excessive barley consumption. Nice hike to clear out the cobwebs. The Haystack is lots of fun and the views were nice. Windy and chilly at the summit.
Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: July 27, 2005
We started early and got to the top around 11:00. After a quick drink we headed for the haystack. We scrambled up that and got a more extensive view to the North and Mount Baker. It is well worth the extra scramble.
Nich and Ryan and I got a late start so we camped half way up and finished in the morning. The Haystack was fun. Great weather and view but very crowded.

First time up this trail and made it to the top in just over 2 hours! The views of Rainier were stunning, especially as the evening alpenglow turned the mountain pink. Chose not to do the haystack scramble this time. Fantastic hike for a warm spring night!
Route Climbed: Main trail from park at base Date Climbed: 1978-2001 (Approx. 10 times)
Often was my first "shape-up" hike of the coming spring-summer hiking season after sitting behind a desk all winter (I know, need to learn how to ice-climb). Was always lucky to get a clear day (miracle in Seattle), good company, and a spectacular view.
Route Climbed: Hay Stack Summit Gully Date Climbed: June 17, 2004
I've done this hike numerous times but this was the first time I did the Hay Stack. It's a relatively easy scramble but the views are defiantly worth the little extra time. I was up there for the sunset. Coming down via head lamp was a little weird. Very Blair Witchie.
Route Climbed: Main trail... Date Climbed: April 29, 2004
Started out this morning at 5:30 - made it up to the top of the haystack and back down by 9. Amazingly clear weather, got some good pics and a nice workout before work.
