Gore Creek
Nice hike alone in the Gore. I turned this one around in about 7 hours due to the fact that I had just returned from Peru and was fit and acclimated. I ran into the climbing Cooneys at the TH, who were going for the Deluge Lake peaks. I had previously attempted this mountain in May 2012 and got turned around slightly below the summit in a whiteout.

long day
started at Rock Creek. Salmon lake is quite nice. From there it is a straightforward hike to the top. On the way back, we climbed the 13333ft sub peak, sometimes called EastThorne- it is a bit of scramble and lots of fun even though it is not very prominent

Thorne
Started at Rock Ck TH. after work and camped @ Salmon lk. Summited the next AM, explored S rock ck a little, then home...grouse, elk, moose right on the trail
I made the long haul from rock creek and trail ran to salmon lake. From there I did something I haven't heard of anyone else doing or did and I free soloed the big long east ridge of the east thorne. I give it an Approx. 5.6-5.8 yds rating. It was frickin rad. One of my top fav solos when I lived back in Co. I descended down to salmon lake via down the feeder stream to the lake. Then trail ran back to my vehicle. Awesomeness. I love the gores.

From Salmon Lakes TH
For some reason, the first thing I think of when I recall that day up on Silverthorne, was all of the Pine Beetle devestation along the Salmon Lakes Trail.
Ascent #1: 11/1/09; Great late fall ascent of this Gore Classic with Sarah, Dominic, Kevin and Dwight. Thanks for the last minute invite Sarah, I'm glad you called, it was a great day for a climb!
Ascent #2: 7/30/11; Combo with Hail, ascent of west ridge on Silverthorne. Climbed with Steve, John and Brian.
