Started from Yankee Boy Basin, nearly summited via the standard route, dropped down to the N Face and up the Snake Couloir for a great tour de Sneffles. A beautiful peak.

my favorite
Remains my favorite 14ers. Spectacular to look at from the north. Yankee Boy has incredible flowers. The peak has some scrambling and great views into the San Juans
Nothin' like a little bluegrass fest in telluride and then some fun in the mountains. we did some scrambling up the ridge with mostly rock, and some snow, from blue lakes. It took longer to walk down the standard route, that way is thin slippery scree, and I think that the steeper way we came up would be better for the descent as well. great view of surrounding mountains from the top.
Climbed with a friend via Lavender Col. Snow and ice in the couloir made this more difficult--the escape notch near the top of the gully was covered in ice. Lots of fun. Beautiful sunrise in Yankee Boy Basin.
Beautiful hike past the Blue Lakes, over the pass, and then took the standard route up Lavender Col. Cloudy and rainy all day. Near zero visibility from the summit. Have to go back another day to check out the views.
An easy & fun scramble. Took me two and a half hours from the parking area @ 10700ft to reach the summit. A small wildfire was burning outside of the Montrose area but the smoke was far away. A GREAT climb!

South Ridge with Insistent rodent
A Pika on Blue Lakes pass tugged on a friend's shirt while she sat. "Snacks? You got snacks?"
Gerry Roach says the South Ridge is less difficult than it looks. Egad - he must think it looks awfully difficult. =) Anyway, the level of snow and crumbliness of rock made for a hair-raising, bona-fide adventure.

Easy Standard RouteEasier than I thought. It was only tough through the initial gulley. 4 Hours round trip with a good break on the summit. We were in the clouds on top.
