Perfect Bay Area views
Stopped up for the views on a clear day between exploring Point Reyes, and meeting friends for dinner in the city. Glad I did, what a vista.

Summit via Northeast Ridge
This is one of those funny ones. Every day, folks by the dozens drive to within a few feet of the summit and once there occasionally rub elbows with other folks who seem to be a little out of breath or on the sweaty side. I've hiked and scrambled from near sea level to the top a number of times. On this day, I set out from Kentfield, at first on a fire road, then opting to scramble up the northeast ridge. Along the way, I ran into a number of direct paths, straight up the mountain to the peak. They're well warn and eroded by runoff. I'm now all too aware why these shortcuts have become a problem and why I won't be going off trail any more. Too many folks.

3 Summits of Mt. Tam
Nice day hiking from the Muir Woods National Monument to the 3 summits of Mt. Tam. Made for a fun loop. Clear, somewhat warm summer day. Would avoid the Monument in the future - didn't realize what a tourist attraction that was.

Serpentine
Good place to see some of the few plants that grow in serpentine rock. Friend I was with thought the manzanita were painted.

First non-drive visit to the top. Super foggy and cold rainy day so we had the place to ourselves.

Great place to hike
Easy hike, great views. Did this hike with our Boy Scout Venture crew... Love the Coke machine near the top. Stopped by Stinson beach afterwards to cool off the feet.

Mt. Tam - backdrop to my youth
From my childhood bedroom window in S.F., "Tam" loomed prominently over the G.G. Bridge. Through the years I hiked it, biked it, ran it, rock climbed on it, swam on it, surfed below it, drove it, hitchhiked over it, went to high school at the base of it, courted my wife on its slopes and watched our daughter born in its shadow.
