Ascended many times  Sucess!

Used to walk to this mountain from my dorm in East Stroudsburg. The walk across the I-80 bridge is always fun.

A blast from the Past  Sucess!

Never really thought much about it before, but this is the 1st mountain I ever climbed.
Climbed it many times in the early 70s. Had a lot of great times on the mountain. Remember getting to Sunfish Pond one sunny, summer day when all the 4 of us had to eat was 1 package of hot dogs. While we were getting a little fire going to cook em', my friend's dog ate every last one!!

Red up Blue down  Sucess!

Always wondered what this would be like after driving through the gap so many years and was surprised by how easy a hike it actually was. Weatherman called for a break in the heatwave/humidity so how could I possibly pass it up. Combined it with a cache and a letter box hunt at the top to make it interesting. Good views, great weather, some nice pictures and a small run in with a Rattler on the way down. Have to try it in the winter with snowshoes or skins.

Suprise Hike  Sucess!

While at work I got a call from my friend Ashley. We both got out of work at 3:30 so we met up a little before 4 and headed up to the Gap. The trail were in good shape. Weather was windy and cloudy. We went up the Red Dot Trail and down the Blue Dot Trail. It was a good hike.

Route Climbed: Red Dot to summit, Blue Dot back Date Climbed: January 21, 2006  Sucess!

This was my fourth time hiking this mountain. Done it first time in winter 2004 and than started coming back every year (last year twice). Now I just missed hiking it in the fall. The conditions yesterday actually felt a lot like fall though. Very nice weather some morning clouds were exchanged for some afternoon sun. Very warm - 50's. Then moved to hike Mt. Minsi.

Route Climbed: Red Dot Summit, Blue Dot Return Date Climbed: Numerous (Fall 2004-Summer 2005)  Sucess!

A really nice day hike. Ease to follow trails with nice views. Very close to suburbia allowing for some detachment from the "stereotypical" New Jersey. Good training ground due to steep slopes and rocky terrain. Recommended as a good day hike.

Route Climbed: Red Dot Trail Date Climbed: November 5th, 2005  Sucess!

Short but some good elevation (especially for NJ/PA). Beautiful warm fall day, but waaaaay too many people up there. There are plenty of opportunities to vary the route to by-pass the droves of people slumping along the trail. Route-finding is very straight forward.

On a GREAT fall day I climbed this. Enjoyed it very much. Great views. Saw a pair of bald eagles!

Route Climbed: Red Dot to summit, Blue Dot return Date Climbed: 8/20/05  Sucess!

Challenging hike with beautiful scenery but marred by the constant sound of traffic amplified by the Delaware River Gap below. Very hazy day with low clouds hampered the views, but the surrounding forest was beautiful. Nice to go from wet forest at the base to dry forest at the summit in only 2 miles up. Beautiful waterfalls and swimming hole at the base of the hike on return. Quite a busy trail, with great rocky outcrops for a rest and refueling. Saw one crow - no other wildlife. Hiking boots recommended as the hike is very rocky in parts.

Route Climbed: Red Dot Trail - Return via Blue Dot Trail Date Climbed: July 25, 2005  Sucess!

Hiked this one on a very hot, humid day. I'm not sure I've ever seen more litter on a relatively tough trail than I saw on this one. Views were still good though.
