Parked at Mt. Si lot & ascended via Talus Loop, Teneriffe Falls Connector, & Kamikaze. Last 300 vertical feet included a lot of postholing and trying to kick steps in to soft snow. (It was my own damn fault for not bringing my snowshoes and getting a late start.)
Descended via Teneriffe Trail, which required some routefinding as no one had used it recently. No worries; I was able to trace the contours and at about 4400' (after the small saddle & bump) the trail became quite apparent. Still had some postholing which increased the effort, which again was my own fault.
Thanks to the Mountaineers Basic Alpine & Navigation course for providing me with the skills!

Winter climb
Summited with a Mountaineers Alpine Scramble group. Definitely, definitely bring microspikes. We did not need crampons, and the snow was compact enough that we did not need snowshoes.

Plan B
With marginal weather we canceled our bigger plans and settled for a run up Teneriffe. There was a cloud forming off the leeward side of the summit but we got good windward views. There were still some snow patches up high, but the summit was clear. We ascended the Kamikaze Falls way and came down the road. With the new trailhead nearly complete (with a spacious parking lot), this destination might start seeing a lot more traffic.

Socked in
We took the Mt. Teneriffe trail up and descended via Teneriffe Falls route, about 11 miles RT. Put on snowshoes about 2 miles from the summit and used a combo of snowshoes and microspikes for the descent. No views but great looking cornice at the top!

Teneriffe
I love the view of Mt. Si from Teneriffe. The hike up is an awesome quad burner too.

What a view!
Climbed with Maddie, via the Kamikaze route. Very steep and slippery footing, but no real exposure. The summit views were incredible, and the Mount Si crowd was nowhere to be found. It was a little slippery coming up, so we took the road down. New 1-90 favorite.

Ridge scramble past the falls
Great route, the falls were blasting, fun scramble/hike up the ridge to the summit. Great views on a clear, and somewhat mild, January day. Snow for the last 500 ft or so. One of the better local adventures around.

Scramblers trail past Kamakazie falls
Light dusting of snow. Downed tree by the falls meant the improvised trail was steep and icy. Microspikes were helpful. Had lunch on top -- only other summit company were some runners doing the traverse.

Although we took the road walk UP and the Kamakazee DOWN - reverse this route and you've got the perfect conditioning hike!

Teneriffe via Si
Hiked up the new Si trail then cut down to the road up to the saddle and up the trail to the summit. Return via road/cutover to Si.

Kamikaze Falls
Decent trip, although a bit slippery going down the steep trail. Now I hear they took it out and have the one with tons of switch backs. Sometimes it pays to do peaks before strange stuff happens to them.

Kamikaze Trail UpUp via the Kamikaze Falls and Trail. Steep, rooty, and forested ridge up. Down the main trail. Super workout and benchmark for difficult trails in WA.
